Ukraine – Liga:Zakon (Лига:Закон)

I’ve described my highly successful and pleasant experience with Amazon Kindle. Device and especially set of services around the device gives you a feeling of getting exactly what you want without any obstacles and “noises” around.
And now I’ll tell about Liza:Zakon the system which is claimed by Liga has to supply me with all kind of information I might need in my day-to day acting as a director of software development company.
Sequence is the next:

  • We have ordered the “Liga:Premium. Network version for 4 sits” from the local dealer.
  • We have got a bill and paid it.
  • We were waiting for 4 days to get a CD with our Liga and the key. (Nice delivery process of the “advanced information system”)
  • We have succeed with its installation on the 3-rd server only. Liga declined to be installed on the previous two without any reasonable explanations. (Our System Administrators are highly skilled professionals day-to-day installing different kind of software to the different versions of Windows and Linux operation systems.)
  • E-mail stated on the site as an e-mail of Support doesn’t work at all.
  • Wen we contacted Liga by phone for additional info the response was: “Contact your dealer.”
  • We needed to download an update. It took 4 hours.
  • We needed to re-index database. We had to stop this process after 14 hour of re-indexing.

And now about Client-side Application.

  • I an able to close it using TaskManager only every time I start the Application.
  • The Application doesn’t respond after I start keyword’s search in the New Taxation Code.

Sorry, but it doesn’t look like a “Service”…

Kindle – Ukraine – Zhytomyr

This post has been inspired by my usage of Amazon Kindle E-reader.
I’ve bought it to get rid of all paper books lying everywhere and bring some order to my personal “reading-management”.
I also have to admit that delivery process of Amazon was the best-established delivery process I’ve ever had trying to order something with delivery to Zhytomyr:

  • you choose and order a book;
  • Amazon tells you that it will take up to around 28 days;
  • you have it at your local post-office in around 14+/-2 days.

Around 20-25 have been bought. Every-time as described above.

Then I’ve bought the Kindle:

  • I’ve choose it (3-rd generation, WiFi+3G) and clicked “Buy”.
  • Amazon reminded me, that I live in Europe, so I might need an “European charger”.
  • Thank you, Amazon, valuable remark. I do need it.
  • I’ve got everything very quickly.
  • My Kindle has been registered to my Amazon account and all Kindle books I’d bought were already downloaded to my Kindle.

A lot of my fellows were complaining that Kindle is very proprietary and is “too much adjusted” to Amazon’s proprietary (you need to pay for) books.
But just look how the book purchasing process looks now:

  • I meet a comment or a link to a Book in some article in the Internet.
  • I search for the Book on the Amazon (It is quite often when the link to the Book on the Amazon is already in the article. Looks like an Ad, but it is really comfortable for me – nice Ad.).
  • I read an annotation and several comments.
  • In case I like it: i click “Buy now with 1-Click”.
  • When I switch-on my Kindle the Book is being delivered within a minute (it has a built-in GSM chip and uses some GSM network, I even don’t know and actually don’t care which one).

I’ve measured time once – it took me 4 minutes between first info about a book till the time it was on my Kindle ready to be read.

I have a lot of ideas, but you probably will have a lot of your own…

Please imagine how we could improve all aspects of our life if everything work like “Amazon Kindle process”…

Наш путь

(From the old savings 🙂 )

(From the old savings 🙂 )

Doing business in Ukraine. Advices for Nobody. Part 1.

Tax inspection forces private entrepreneurs to get a lot of signatures before they could apply for paying “Single/simple” tax in the next year. Huge queues of private entrepreneurs are wasting time in the tax inspection spending around 3 hours in the small rules without fresh air and probably with a lot of bacterias and viruses of different kind of flues. “Documents for only 2 private entrepreneurs” might be signed for each arrived person. Why?:
Why to waste productive time of  a lot the most active people?
Why not accept passing more than 2? Two results:
– one accountant will repeatedly stay in queues for several days);
– busy tax inspectors have to serve huge amount of economy-newbies insted of serving much less economically- savvy accountants.
Why to energize flu-epidemic?

What for?

Everything might be simpler:
– Make a List of those who really didn’t pay some taxes to the government automatically.
– Simply check either arrived private entrepreneur is in the List.
– If he is not – “Sign”, if he is – “Sent to appropriate inspector to solve his problems”.

Why no to organize the process in such a way?

Push it. Do what you think is right.

Some efforts put by the person to make things happen and the following discussion with that parson inspired me to write this post.
The person was applying person’s natural skills to put things in a right order by organizing other people. It was difficult as it is difficult to manage people. Other difficult point was that the person doesn’t have any formal power to manage those people.
I was observing this type of the person’s behavior for a long time. The efforts pay off, but difficult.
But the person definitely has an ability to organize others and really cares about the things person is involved in.
My advices were:

  • to keep behaving so despite all difficulties;
  • to train these skills to be able to apply them in the future and get additional advantages in comparison with others;
  • to find out what type of job fits person’s skills and wishes the best;
  • try to apply all above-mentioned points to make a life a bit more colorful.

To all:
do not hesitate to apply and train your natural skills even if they are marginal in the society/people-group around you;
do preferably what is interesting for you;
do not hesitate to ask for advice.

To the person: Keep so!

“How Millennials Learn” (from clomedia.com), I have doubts

I’ve just read an article How Millennials Learn from the clomedia.com.
I have a serious doubt.
“We need and want guidance and direction.”…
But the problem of a lot of “Millennials” is the presence of “need” and the absence of “demand”.
Let’s form a demand!

Existence. Goals. Movement.

This idea was for a long time walking around my brain:
– Do we understand who we are and where we are?
– Are we going to go somewhere?
– If we are going to go somewhere, do we really thing “where to go” and “how to get there”?
Above-mentioned idea has been inspired by:
– Teaching students at Zhitomir State Technological University (ZSTU) for 6 years.
– Virtual comparison of Zhitomir State Technological University and Dnipropetrovsk University of Economics and Law (DUEP) and the personalities of their rectors (my personal experience of the communications with them).
– Observing people working around me.

Working and communicating with the students I am trying to recall myself being in the same situation. Telling about me, despite uncertainty on the 90-th where I’ve spent most part of my childhood and youth I had some goals. I can honestly say, that I didn’t know the way I had to take, but I was trying and I would be glad to listen to anybody looking capable in giving me any directions to go to reach my goals. There were not too many tellers, I should assume:  mostly people were “from the Soviet Union”, those who succeed to achieve something were either busy of achieving more or were not sure about it was the result of their sequential work of just a big luck. So, I had to study from people myself, deciding what habits, knowledge, behaviors, actions might be useful to me for reaching my goals.
People from whom I have something to study were:

There were a lot to study: positive and negative, useful right that time and now only, big and small. I wanted to adsorb more knowledge. Nobody told me to do that, it was self-driven desire. I could do much more that time, I understand it now.
I am able to share my knowledge, I know quite some people around willing to share their knowledge. Nobody requires.
Tell me why, please. You may do it in the comment to this post.

About my “virtual comparison” of Zhitomir State Technological University and Dnipropetrovsk University of Economics and Law and the personalities of their rectors.
I’ve got my 2 high educations at ZSTU I was teaching at ZSTU for 6 years, I was getting PhD at DUEP.[Unfortunately for me I had not time or, may be, just didn’t put appropriate efforts to finish my PhD thesis in the area I really like and I am interesting in “Economical approach of the Intellectual property relations in Ukraine”, at the institutions which is really developing constantly and what is the most important – with the people who are clever, pleasant in the communications and really passionate about their job.]
Short results of comparison:

  • Please look at the sites: ZSTU vs.  DUEP. Do you feel who is the “central” at them? Student/potential student? Rector? Which site gives you a feeling of the “activity”? Where would you like to study? Please ask you more similar questions. It is not only about the sites – those are their “work-stiles”.
  • Rector (and the other personnel) of DUEP talk to you as to the partner. Rector (and a part, not everybody, luckily, of the administrative personnel) of  ZSTU talk to you like you have a huge obligations towards them.
  • DUEP: established 17 years ago vs. now.  ZSTU: established in 1960 vs. a bit decorated building now.
  • Amount of work, improvements, activity done by DUEP impresses (look at the site). ZSTU is close to the state I observed it being a pupil of the First Town Lyceum in 1998.

Have any arguments? Provide it to me please.

Also observing people who were working around me during all past time, with the very bitter feeling I have to conclude that I see a lot of people who just follow the flow.
A lot of them are able to achieve better results, to become a real professional in their area, to become a bright artist or perfect mother/father/partner.
I understand some of them – they are aged, have families, but why younger people accept their present achievements? I don’t tell just about professional areas, there are a lot to improve in their relations with people who are close to them or to make their hobbies to bring them more pleasure.

Unfortunately I can’t show the ideal person. I am too far from there in all areas, unfortunately. But just think, please. Find a person who might be glad to see you enhancements, find an area which might get the next visionary/professional.
Find your way and your approaches.
And let me know please what do you think about this.

Ukrainian wishes: To earn as europeans to work as usual

I’ve got some inspiration to write a post about “some differences” between “what I would like to earn” and “what I am going to do for those earnings”. Despite all our wishes “to be like a Europe”, we have to honestly remember that we are around 5 years behind in technological and organizational sens, and about 15 years behind in the sens of economical development. It looks like we have to work like a crazy (or better, like a very inspired by the possible future positive outcome) to develop Ukraine to the European country, and it is very sad to see, that only few of us are ready to do something to make our motherland better.
It is easy:
– Try to think what you are able to do better;
– Try to find how to do it better;
– Do it.
Sometimes you don’t need money to work more efficient, – you just need to optimize you way of doing things, than try to optimize the way people around you are working, show the difference to others.
